Hello Sewing Family!

Gail here, I’m pleased today to share a very exciting announcement about the future of online sewing classes.

Before I jump into it, I wanted to take a step back and from the bottom of my heart thank you for all your support this last year.

Because of the pandemic, we’ve been unable learn together in person for almost a year. This was challenging both for treasured friendships, and as a small business owner.

Thankfully, with some support from a handful of my family members, we were able to quickly move online and continue teaching. As I've said many times this year:

#TheSewMustGoOn

While traditional in-person sewing classes are beloved by many of us, sewing online this year has had many unforeseen benefits, and I have been overwhelmed with touching stories from students who have enjoyed this new format:

  • One student who wrote to us said she experiences hearing loss, but has been overjoyed to be able to plug in headphones, turn up the volume, and hear sewing class clearly.
  • Another student said she is unable to travel because of health challenges. For years she has longed to participate in an heirloom sewing class and this year she took one from home.
  • And many, many of you have expressed your appreciation for the cost-effectiveness of the online class format where you have the advantage of being able to forego expensive travel.

On top of all of that, in this new online format I've been privileged to teach more students than ever before, and it has brought me great joy.

Now I must say, my greatest joy as a sewing teacher is in seeing all of you, my students, be successful. Take for example the words of one online student from this year who said:

“I’ve accomplished things in this class that I NEVER thought I’d be able to do.”

That is the most meaningful to me, and here’s why:

For all of us sewing is important on at least 2 levels.

  1. Creating something beautiful that can be used and cherished by those we love.
  2. The sense of accomplishment that comes from doing something remarkable, something that challenges you.

That's why the team at Gail Doane Originals has openly declared war on UFO's (Unfinished Outfits), and today we're announcing a brand new class format that is designed to ensure your success as a student.

So here's to 2021, a year where I hope you'll join me, and accomplish something remarkable

Above all else I want to say none of this would be possible without the incredible support of this sewing family.

So thank you!

Without further ado, let’s get to the details of our announcement.

I’ve recorded a video to share this exciting news.

Sincerely,
Gail Doane
